We were given a table of years and teacher salaries, and this model here describes that mathematically.
00:12
The first thing we're asked to do is to use a graphing utility to plot the scatter plot of the table, and then the model over top of that.
00:22
So the blue line i have is the model, which is the equation here to the left, and then, of course, all the points are the scatter plot points for the table itself.
00:30
Now, how well does the data fit the model, or the model fit the data, i should say? it's actually a pretty good fit.
00:38
So the model does fit the data very well.
00:44
Model fits data.
00:48
Well, you know, you can just, if you can't tell right away, there's probably a good chance the model doesn't fit very well.
00:58
But seeing as how this line does pretty much path through what would be considered an average of those points, that's a very good sign.
01:06
Now, using this model, let's predict something.
01:10
So when would the teacher's salary exceed 60 ,000? so i kind of graphed it out a little further.
01:18
So like, i guess here, right? that would be, i believe, to quite 30 years further than what we were expected to.
01:31
Anyway, the, not 30...
