Tell whether the sampling strategy will result in a random sample from the population under consideration. If it is not random, explain why it is not.
When 50 qualified students audition for the five chorus roles in the school musical, the director decides to choose the five chorus members randomly. He tells them to form five lines of ten people; then he announces that the seventh person in each line will be in the chorus.
Hence, the sampling technique will result into a random sample if and only if the students do not know about the technique.

Okay. Problem. 10 50. Qualified students are additionally for five chorus rules in the school musical. And so the director needs to pick five people since they're all qualified. Um, the fair way to do it, I guess, would be a random selection of five people from the 50 with the, uh, director does is to ask the 50 people that lineup in five lines, each with 10 people in that or, um, each of them with 10 people in the line and says, Okay, we're gonna select a seven person in the July to be part of the courts. Now, is this a random selection? And I would say this is pretty, uh, pretty Random people could have gone in any order they wanted to in the line. Um, the fact that seven was picked, you know, they probably better get random number. Pick a number between one. And 10 uh, to pick the line with probably an improvement over this. Um, again, though there's also the issue with, you know, who are the people who usually come and get the front of the line. Are they different from the people who are in the back of the line? and are truly getting a random sample If people who rushed to the beginning are a little bit more go getters than the people who just kind of tag along a minute. The end. Oh, but it's right. Qualify, uh, since is pretty good random, random job selecting.
