The $a, b$, and $c$ loci are all on different chromosomes in yeast. When $a+$ yeast were crossed to $+b$ yeast and the resultant tetrads analyzed, it was found that the number of nomparental ditype tetrads was equal to the number of parental ditypes, but there were no tetratype asci at all. On the other hand, many tetratype asci were seen in the tetrads formed after $a+$ was crossed with $+c$, and after $b+$ was crossed with $+c$. Explain these results.
