Before we jump into this diagram here of a cell membrane, we're going to go over a couple different things before we do so.

First thing is, let's identify what hydrophilic is and what hydrophobic is.

So when something's hydrophilic, it's going to love and be attracted to the water.

And when something's hydrophobic, it's going to fear that.

It's going to make sense right now when we talk about phospholipids.

So just like the name it says, a phospholipid is going to be a type of, lipid.

And it's going to have two different components that make it up.

And so here on the diagram, we can see this.

So all these kind of round areas, there we go, all these round heads here, all of these are going to be hydrophilic, the head of the phospholipid.
