Let's talk about island biogeography.
00:02
So you have this big continent over here providing life that will figure out its way over to all these islands.
00:11
What are the two factors going to be to get a species from here to be a pioneer species and be a new one on one of these islands? well, it's going to pertain to two main things.
00:22
Of course, there's a lot of variables, but dumb down, two main things.
00:25
One, the size of the island, because if you're a bird and you get lost in a storm, it's just what's the likelihood that you're going to find this island? what's the likelihood you're going to land on this island? secondly, the distance from the mainland.
00:38
If it's closer, you're more likely going to fly into it via if it's a faraway or a whole other continent way over there.
00:46
Those are the two main factors...
