The following nuclei do not lie in the band of stability. How would they be expected to decay?(a) 28 $\mathrm{P}$(b) $\frac{235}{92} \mathrm{U}$(c) 37 $\mathrm{Ca}$(d) 9 $\mathrm{Li}$(e) $\stackrel{245}{96} \mathrm{Cm}$
a) The isotope $_{15}^{28} \mathrm{P}$ has low $\mathrm{N} / \mathrm{Z}$ ratio, so in order to attain stability, it undergoes Positron emission,b) The isotope $_{92}^{235} \mathrm{U}$ has greater $\mathrm{N} / \mathrm{Z}$ ratio. These type of elements undergo either alpha or beta decay in order to attain stability.c) The isotope, 37 $\mathrm{Ca}$ has low N/Z ratio, so in order to attain stability, it undergoes Positron emission,d) The isotope, $_{3}^{9}$ Li has greater $N / Z$ ratio, so in order to attain stability, it undergoes beta decay.e) The isotope $_{96}^{245} \mathrm{Cm}$ has greater $\mathrm{N} / \mathrm{Z}$ ratio. In order to attain stability, it undergoes alpha emission.

I've only says Ricky, and today we're working on Problem 27. We're given five different Adams all right, jobs, and we have to determine which what types of the K they will undergo. And so we have nuclear decay because the elements under some kind of stress, uh, usually meaning there's it's neutron, too. Proton ratio is out of whack. And so, using what we know about, uh, he's isotopes number of neutrons in there, numbers of protons. We can estimate what type of commission they want to go. So, for example, phosphorus 40 28 has a loan. You trying two Proton ratio, which means it will undergo a positron emission. You know, uranium to 35 has a hi and Susie ratio, so it will go by. There it will undergo. Either it will undergo either Alfa decay or bake a beta decay. But most likely, Alfa Calcium 37 also has a lower and Z ratio. So would want to go positron mission. Lithium want to go beta decay because it has a slightly larger Enzi ratio, then lastly, see him 45 as a larger and susie ratio and two gets ability will undergo Alfred. Okay, I hope this video was helpful. I'll see you in the neck
