They're all k -selected species, and you're trying to figure out why are they more endangered than our selected species, and what type of survivorship curb would you expect for each of these? okay, so first off we need to go over what r and k -selected species are.

And you see on the documentaries and everything that there's a little nest, okay? you see that only like one survive, right? and you're like, why does that happen? why does only one survive? that seems crazy.

Well, the answer to that question is actually because it's an our selected species.

So basically what they do is our selected species produce a ton of babies.

However, they don't provide a lot of parental care because you basically are deciding, do you want to spend your energy raising that one child, putting all of your resources into that one child to make it the super seed turtle? you know what i mean? raise it, make sure it knows how to eat correctly, gets jellyfish, doesn't eat straws, you know, whatever.

Or do you want your probability to be higher by just having a ton of different eggs hoping that one of them survives from each clutch? this gives you a lot more options, right? if one of these eggs, one of these eggs dies, okay, gets cracked, whatever.

And then like a middle ground would be like birds who do like air right once use green which is type two go straight through the middle they have some parental engagement they but they do have multiple offspring right okay so on average if you have a doubt whether or not something that's an r or k selected species if it has scales assume that it's an r because reptile are usually what people think of when you are talking about our selected species because they produce a ton of different babies and then the majority of them die.
