Hey everyone, today we're solving problem number six from chapter two of the textbook, the essentials of modern business statistics.
00:11
This is a two -part question, though the first part is quite extensive.
00:16
So basically we're dealing with which television channels have shown the 50 most popular tv shows, like most view of all time.
00:29
And they give you the list of the channels.
00:32
And we are supposed to figure out the frequency and percent frequency, and then graph on a bar graph, a result, and then that's for part a, and then in part b, you're supposed to figure out the channels, the two channels who have the most, who own the most watched, the most number of the most watched shows ever.
00:58
So in part a, we're trying to figure out frequencies, so you're basically counting up, given what? they give you how many times abc shows up, how many times nbc shows up, how many times cbs shows up, how many times fox shows up.
01:11
You know that the total has to be 50, they tell you that.
01:15
And again, percent frequency, we know the total has to be 100%.
01:20
So we're good to go on that.
01:23
All right.
01:23
So for abc, when you count it all up, i get, let's see, 15.
01:33
Nbc, i got 17.
01:37
Same with cbs total of 17 and then fox i got only one so for frequencies you know that's the same thing as 15 out of 50 total so the easy thing what's really nice about this is that there is a total 50 and you need to get to the total of 100 so you're literally multiplying each number by 2 so 15 times 2 is going to be 30 so 30 % for abc and then 17 times 2 is 34, so 34 % for nbc, it's probably the same number for cbs, and then finally fox is just 1 times 2, which is 2%.
02:25
So those are our percent frequencies.
02:27
Now moving on to our graph.
02:29
So we're asked to draw a bar graph.
02:31
On the bar graph, we're going to show the frequencies.
02:33
So for abc, we have 15.
02:46
Again, try and shade this in as best as you can.
03:00
And while i'm shading it in, you guys should all know that you should label your x and y axes as i've already done so on the x axes i have my tv channel and i have the four channels listed a bc nvc cbs a fox and then the number of times a channel made a top rated show um that would be this y axis i just shortened it to number of times so for abc we have 15 so again i'm going to write the numbers on top just in case the scales a little off or whatnot and the greater little picky about the scaling and stuff like that.
03:38
It's just good to write the number on top so they know that you know what you're doing essentially...
