Hi everyone, so today we're going to be trying to match some histograms to its corresponding box plot.

And this is a really interesting question, actually.

And it's basically talking about three different classes that took the same test.

And we can see the distributions of the results for each of these three classes in the blue histograms here.

And then they also put the results of these classes into some box plots.

And we're going to try and match the appropriate histogram to the right box plot.

And so to start off with, what i'd like to look at is how symmetrical each of these distributions is.

We can see that all three of these are roughly unimodal, so they have one peak.

However, class one is most definitely symmetrical.

It's a classic shape, very bell curve like.

Class two is also pretty symmetrical.

If you look, we've got a very high peak in the centre and then two lower peaks, two higher peaks and then a lowerish peak.

So it is pretty centrally symmetric, whereas class three is not symmetric in the slightest.

But it's really negatively skewed.

And so what we can then do, looking at our box plots, is we can see using the interquartile range and the median, how skewed these distributions will be.

So where the median is roughly in the middle of the intercortile range, which is the case in a and also in b, we'd say that these are roughly symmetric.

Whereas with b, sorry, whereas with c, we can see the median is much higher in the intercortile range box.

And that's suggesting a skew.

And so that would suggest that c is, corresponds to class three.

Now in the same way, we can use the intercortile range to make an estimate of whether this makes sense or not.

So the intercortar range indicates that half of the values sit between, you know, roughly 90 and sort of maybe 65...
