So for example, a common one is if you're given a distance function or you're told that it travels this long or this many miles or whatever.

Well, then when you take the derivative, if you have like s prime of t, for example, that's going to give us, if we're differentiating with respect to t the time, then that's going to give us whatever the units are in over whatever we're taking the derivative of with respect to.
