Alright, we're going to start by comparing the graphs of y equals 2 to the x and y equals x squared.

So i've gone into my y equals menu and typed both of those in.

And then i've played around with my window dimensions a little bit and i'm going to look at a window that goes from roughly negative 6 to 6 and then about negative 4 to 40.

These numbers can vary and here's what we see.

So the blue one here that's the exponential growth, y equals 2 to the x.

And the red one coming up is the polynomial quadratic function, y equals x squared.

So a difference we notice is that y equals x squared decreases part of the time and increases part of the time, whereas y equals 2 to the x increases all of the time.

A similarity is that for positive values of x, they both increase all of the time, and they both increase more rapidly as they go.
