So a reminder as we begin this video that the hydrologic cycle is the system of exchange involving water in its various forms as it circulates around on and within the earth's crust.

So let's talk about the big two first, evaporation and precipitation.

Evaporation is that process that we see on the right here.

That is by which we're changing from liquid to the water vapor state, while precipitation is including any liquid water or ice that falls to the surface through the atmosphere.

And so, of course, some water cycles also include condensation, or we have those clouds forming up here in the top right, in our water cycle as well, whereas part of the evaporation of water molecules before precipitation.

Now, at the global scale, the largest amounts of water are transferred in the hydrologic cycle are from evaporation from the ocean to the atmosphere and then precipitation back into the ocean.

And really, this makes sense because much of the earth is covered by our oceans...
