for this graph, we're supposed to use the vertical line test to determine whether the given graph could be a function. Well, let's review why the vertical line test works. A definition of a function says that every input into the function goes to exactly one output. Now our inputs are exes, and my outputs are why that says it. For every X, I can only have one. Why? So when I put a vertical line on my graph, for example, I'm just going to draw it here that is representing an X value it. And for this to be a function, it can Onley ever touch the graph at 1.1. Why, If I can hold a vertical line and have a touch two or more points on my graph, it can't be a function because that means that my ex would have multiple wise that it's going thio. And that can't happen according to the definition can only have one. So if I for our particular graph here, if you imagine sliding this vertical line to the left into the right, it's on Lee ever going to touch this red graph at one point so it passes the vertical line test. Every X has exactly one. Why so yes, my red graph here could be, ah, function.
