Hey guys, so today we're going to be talking about triglycerides.
00:11
So basically, triglycerides is a major form of fat that is stored in the body, and it's made up of three fatty acid groups and aclycerol.
00:19
So the tri, and triglycerides stands for the three fatty acid groups, and the glycerides stands for the glycerol.
00:26
So this is what glycerol looks like.
00:28
So glycerol is basically this three carbon structure that is, um, essentially issterified when we add these fatty acid groups onto the structure.
00:44
So the three different fatty acids we're going to be using as an example are going to be meristic acid, which has 14 carbons, pulmonary acid, which has 16 carbons, and oleic acid, and in a cis form, which has 18 carbons.
00:58
So, as i said before, triglyceride forms from the asterification of glycerol with these three fatty acids.
01:04
It doesn't have to be specifically these three fatty acids.
01:07
This is just an example...
