00:01 So for this question, we're going to be talking about identity, particularly when it comes to adolescence and developing identity.

00:08 One thing that can be quite important for the development of an identity is having a solid home base from which an adolescent can go forth from.

00:16 So having a stable home life can not only provide the impetus for someone who's young to go out, right? if you have a stable home life, there's not too many reasons to stay around always.

00:28 So it gives you an impetus to go experiment because otherwise you might run the risk of being bored at home.

00:34 But also, it doesn't provide you with enough of reason to stay around for the fact that there's nothing to solve.

00:40 Home lives that are more chaotic can be really problematic since you need to always deal with something at home.

00:46 So then you might not have the energy nor the foresight to actually go experiment.

00:52 And this can be really important in developing an identity because experimentation is really key.

00:58 Someone who has the opportunity to go get a job during the summer can find out that they don't like the work and then can then further dedicate themselves to their study for a field that they think they might like instead.

01:11 And then maybe the next summer they get a job more related to the one they thought they were going to like.

01:15 They find they don't like that.

01:16 And then they can further experiment on and on throughout the years of high school and college as well...
