What is Hess's law? Why is it useful?
$697-06-24 \mathrm{RQ}$ SA-9877SR: 5276Hess's Law:The change in enthalpy for a stepwise process is the sum of the enthalpy change of the steps.$$\begin{array}{c}{A+2 B \rightarrow C \quad \Delta H_{1}} \\ {C \rightarrow 2 D} & {\Delta H_{2}} \\ {\frac{\mathrm{Ex} )}{A+2 B \rightarrow 2 D \quad \Delta H_{3}=\Delta H_{1}+\Delta H_{2}}}\end{array}$$These relationships make it possible to determine $\Delta H$ for a reaction without directly measuringit in the laboratory.

So this question asks what is has his law and why is it useful? And so has his law states that the total and will be changed of a reaction is the same, whether it's in one step or several steps, and so this could be drawn out like this. Let's say we have a reaction of reactant ce two products and that's described by adult H. Now we can describe the reactant CE with the Delta H formation, for the reactant is and we can describe the products also by adult h of formation off the products. And so what this looks like in an equation is that the Delta H of reaction is equal to the Delta H formation of the products minus the Delta H formation of the reactant CE. And so are the reason that this is useful is because if it's impossible impractical to calculate the delta h of reaction by itself, we can use this has his law approach to ah theoretically find the Delta h of reaction for any potential reaction at all. And so ah, that is what has his law is and why it's useful
