Hello.
00:01
Today we'll be talking about chapter 11, question 10, which asks us to consider surface tension as a concept.
00:11
So what is surface tension? surface tension is the force that is a result of water molecules and other molecules of a liquid attracting to each other.
00:25
So i'm going to draw out some water molecules.
00:31
I'm going to draw some intermolecular attractions between them.
00:34
These are hydrogen bonds.
00:38
And this is what causes water to stick to itself and remain a liquid.
00:43
And then i'm going to draw out a water droplet.
00:49
So let's just draw a circle.
00:52
Here's a water droplet, let's say, in the air.
00:57
And so we have a bunch of water molecules, each with these hydrogen bonds going on, hydrogen bonds.
01:09
And they are pulling the water molecules together within the hydrogen bonds.
01:14
The droplet of water...
