What is the advantage of using scientific notation over decimal notation?

Scientific notation is much simpler than decimal notation because you can simply express a lengthy expression by using $10^{n}$

Chemistry is the science of matter, especially its chemical reactions, but also its composition, structure and properties. Chemistry deals with atoms and their interactions with other atoms, and particularly with the properties of chemical bonds. Chemistry also involves understanding the properties and interactions of individual atoms and molecules for use in larger-scale applications.

In chemistry and physics, matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume. All everyday objects that can be touched are ultimately composed of atoms, which are made up of interacting subatomic particles, and in everyday as well as scientific usage, "matter" generally includes atoms and anything made up of them, and any particles and objects that act as if they have both rest mass and volume. However it does not include massless particles such as photons, or other energy phenomena or waves such as light or sound. Matter exists in various states (known as phases) that are defined by various physical properties, such as state of matter, phase, shape, and density. The Standard Model of particle physics and the general theory of relativity describe fundamental particles and the fundamental forces acting between them that control the structure and dynamics of matter.

Hi. So this question just asking you what is the advantage of using scientific notation versus decimal notation? So first, let's go over what scientific notation is on. Scientific notation is basically just when you take a where you simple by value into this form. So you kind of have your digits here. So let's let me give an example, like 1.0 times 10 to the ninth, right? This is in scientific notation. It's whenever you kind of have this 10 to the end power here to describe a particular number. Now if I were to actually write this out right and decimal form it be, um, 1000000000 right, nine zeros. And as you can see, it's much easier to write out this number in scientific notation when you kind of have just, um, 11 decimal point to kind of and then multiply it by 10 to the whatever power to describe it, as opposed to running out all the zeros and all the stuff. So that is a big, big reason why scientific notation is easier. It's just that it's much more simple and much easier right I have to write all the zeros and it just takes less space. So, in general, scientific notation is what, um, you know, math, mathematicians and, you know, chemistry with people. All people in all levels of science will use scientific notation and instead of instead of instead of just regular decimal notation because it's just easier and more simple. So this is helpful and allows you understand why we use scientific notation instead of does modern, efficient Thanks for listening.
