What is the difference between gas diffusion and effusion? State Graham's law and define the terms in Equation (5.17).

Gas diffusion is the movement of gas from regions of high concentration to the region of low concentration. Effusion is the movement of a gas through a very small hole (diameter is less than the mean free path)

Graham's law of diffusion states that at equal temperature and pressure the rate of diffusion are inversely proportional to the square roots of their molar masses.\[\frac{r_{1}}{r_{2}}=\sqrt{\frac{M_{2}}{M_{1}}}\]where $r_{1}$ and $r_{2}$ are diffusion rates of gases 1 and 2 while $M_{1}$ and $M_{2}$ are their molar masses respectively.
