Hello everybody.
00:08
What is population density? population density refers to the total number of individuals, whether it be lizards, birds or human beings that are living within a particular area or region.
00:31
Now, how is it that an individual would go about determining or calculating the population density of his or her residential area.
00:42
Let's say for instance, penelis county in the state of florida.
00:49
Now, it would be very impractical for that person to go about the entire county of pinellas trying to count each and every individual because it would be hard to find every person at his or her home.
01:06
So an alternative would be to select areas or regions that are of the same geographical size, perhaps measured in cubic kilometers or square kilometers.
01:27
So let's say for instance, this is area one, and though not drawn to scale, we'll assume that all of these are of the same size.
01:41
We'll say, 10 square kilometers.
01:48
Same for this one.
01:56
10 square kilometers and 10 square kilometers.
02:11
Now each of these would perhaps have 10 people, or let's say 15 people...
