to determine which bond is more polar. We need to find the bond that has the greatest difference in electron negativity. Although using the trend of the periodic table where the electro negativity increases as we go up and to the right, it'll be more accurate if we know the actual electron negativity values for each of these elements, subtract the difference. I'm sorry. Subtract the two and determine the difference. The first bond is C C. Carbon Bonded to Carbon. Both have the exact same electro negativity, so the electro negativity difference would be zero. This would actually be the most non polar bond. C H Carbon has an electron negativity of 2.55 hydrogen of 2.20 a difference of 0.35 Then we'll go to nitrogen bonded to hydrogen. Nitrogen has an electro negativity of 34 hydrogen 2 to 0. A difference of four than the O. H. Oxygen has an electro negativity of 3.44 hydrogen 2.20 a difference of 1.24 and then the selenium hydrogen bond, 2.55 for selenium 2.22 or 2.20 for hydrogen, a difference of 0.35 So the most polar bond is gonna be the one with the greatest difference in electron negativity, which is a 1.24 difference, and that's the hydrogen oxygen bond.
