Communication between animals can be very important when the animals are exchanging information about their surroundings.
00:11
So they can give different signals, let them know where food is, or let them know that predators are around, or anything else about the environment.
00:20
And these can come in a couple different forms.
00:22
So first, there are chemical signals, and these are usually pheromones.
00:29
And they are pretty unique in that they can last for a pretty long time after an animal, releases it or places that signal.
00:39
And also it can be seen in the day or the night.
00:45
And they can still provide some pretty complex and specific bits of information.
00:57
And so an example of this are ants and they will lay down a trail of pheromones leading another ant or their colony to a source of food.
01:10
So visual signals are usually, you know, a gesture or some type of movement that one animal will make towards another animal, and it'll indicate that to that animal, what is going on in the environment.
