Hello, welcome to the video and today we're going to be talking about hypothesis tests and specifically how to know when we do or do not have enough information or evidence to reject a claim.

So in this problem we're told that a statistics teacher claims that 60 % of students who take her class go through life feeling more enriched.

And naturally a lot of people don't believe this is true.

Can translate these what we have so far into hypotheses what the teacher claims it would be the null hypothesis that we're just going to call x the proportion of people who feel more enriched it's claimed that x equals 0 .6 or 60 % and people who doubt this claim are would like to argue in favor of the alternative hypothesis here which is that x does not equal 0 .6 they don't believe this is true, and we would like to find evidence to show that this is true.

And we're going to be testing this.

We're going to do this hypothesis test at a 0 .05 alpha level.

So if we find a p value that is less than this, we can sufficiently reject this claim.

So to test the hypotheses, they surveyed 64 people.
