1. The velocity of a fluid flow over a horizontal plate as shown in Figure 1 is varying so that at a
vertex of 10 cm from the bottom of the plate, the maximum velocity is 150 cm/s. Given that
the absolute viscosity of the fluid is 0.9 Ns/m² and the specific gravity (S.G) is 0.913. Find the
velocity gradients (units: s¹) and shear stresses (units: N/m²) at y =0 cm, y = cm and y = 10
cm from the plate under the following scenarios: (a) linear velocity distribution $u = Ay + B$
and (b) parabolic velocity distribution $u = ay^2 + by + c$.
