P6 (18pts): A system is designed to mix two liquids in such a way that the mixture contains 25% of liquid
1 and 75% of liquid 2 in term of mass, as shown in Figure below. Gauge pressure in mixing tank is
maintained as 12 kPa. Tanks of liquid 1 and 2 are open to atmosphere and large enough so the
velocities of the free surfaces are negligible. Let g=9.81 m/s²,
1) Compute the flow velocity $v_1$ of liquid 1 at outlet of pipe 1, and $v_2$ of liquid 2 at outlet of pipe 2,
given the friction loss for each flow as follows
$ghf_1 = 0.4 \, v_1^2$ and $ghf_2 = 0.5 \, v_2^2$ and
2) Compute diameter of pipe 2, $d_2$, if the diameter of pipe 1 is given as $d_1$=8.25 cm
