In this Discussion Board 7 I will be choosing the number 8 for my "n" that is larger than 5. N=8. To find a number that is the 8th root is a whole number, we want to consider what the 8th powers are. The formula for this is =b. We want to see which number can be written for b, where b is the whole number. Let us just say that 2 is the whole number. So, you have 2. That would be 2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2 which would simplify to 256. So, the 8th root of 256 is =2. Therefore, my nth root, 8, is a whole number. I approached finding my example by looking over the module 7 lecture notes in the Introduction to Radicals.
