Exercise 4
Let u be a differentiable function on $\mathbb{R}^2$ and let $v(s,t) = u(a(s,t), b(s,t))$, where $a(s,t) = e^s \cos t$ and
$b(s,t) = e^s \sin t$
Show that
$v_{ss}(s,t) + v_{tt}(s,t) = (a^2 + b^2)(u_{11}(a, b) + u_{22}(a, b))$,
where for simplicity, we wrote $a = a(s,t)$ and $b = b(s, t)$.
