2a) A 3 phase, 40 pole, 3300 V, 50 Hz, Delta connected wound
rotor synchronous machine is being used as a generator in a
Hydroelectric Scheme. The machine can be assumed to have
negligible resistance, a synchronous reactance of 4.7 $\Omega$, and a
power factor of 0.82.
The torque created by the turbine which is being applied to the
generator shaft is dependent on the water flow, and can be
calculated from:
$T = 80 \times v^3$
where $v$ is the water flow rate in m³/s.
Using the Source convention for your answer, and assuming a
flow rate of 6 m³/s, calculate, with appropriate diagrams:
i) Per phase field-induced emf ($E_f$)
ii) Load angle ($\delta$)
2b) Using diagrams and equations, derive the relationships
between the line and phase voltages and currents in a Star
Connected System.
