Self Concept
A person’s ‘Self Concept’ is a person’s perception of the "self" based on their own physical, social, and psychological characteristics.
When people respond and treat us the way we perceive ourselves, it gives us great satisfaction and strengthens our self-concept. When people do not treat us consistently with our own self-definition, we feel rejected or hurt.
Questions to Reflect Upon
Is what you perceive yourself to be the same as what others perceive of you?
Do you have more Open/Free Areas—as opposed to Blind, Hidden, and Unknown Areas—that represent who you are and what others see?
