Project Description
- The project of this course is weighted 20% of the final grade.
- It is an individual work that is composed of the design and the implementation of a Java desktop application.
- The idea of the project is of your choice, examples: shop, clinic, hospital, hotel, airlines, football club, music school, etc. Avoid the ideas explained in class.
- The project will be done over three phases.
Phase 1 - The Proposal and the Specifications:
A paragraph that explains the objective of your project, lists the users of the project, how each of them will benefit from the application, and any other details that will help the instructor understand your approach. Submitted to Google Classroom as a reply to an assignment.
- You should wait for your instructor's approval on the proposal before being able to continue to phases 2 and 3.
- Choose your idea carefully because you cannot change it after approval.
- The deadline to submit your proposal is Sunday, April 25 at midnight.
Phase 2 - System Design:
- Presented by UML diagrams (Use case, sequence, state, activity, and class).
- This phase could be updated later based on the implementation requirements.
- However, it will be evaluated and graded based on the correctness of your design.
- Submitted as a PowerPoint file or Word file containing the figures of the diagrams (if done with different software).
- The deadline to submit your design is Sunday, May 9 at midnight.
Phase 3 - Java Implementation:
This phase consists of programming the project, and the following minimum requirements should be respected:
- The MVC concept should be used while programming.
- The project should contain at least 3 model classes.
- GUI is a must.
- At least two different users should be able to access the system with a different main page for each of them, to which they will be directed as soon as logging in correctly.
- At least one different GUI element from the login should be used and appear in the system.
- Data should be saved into files.
The student is then required to record a video explaining their project, the functionality, and also the source code (10 to 15 minutes, not more).
- Most of the project grade will be based on this video. Hence, record it once, twice, and many times if needed until you are satisfied with the recorded version to be sent for evaluation and grading.
- The deadline to submit your video is Sunday, May 30 at midnight.
Work on your project from now and do not delay it until the last minute!
