Why should you not use the 1,000 x total magnification in lab, - this is simply because of the special techniques involved.
Normally you will use oil when using that last 100 x objective lens (1,000 x total magnification), the one with the silver/white ring around the objective lens.
Why do we avoid using the 100x (1000x total magnification) objective lens?
• None of these answers are correct
• It does not magnify well enough
• It magnifies images too well.
• It requires special techniques to use it.
