QUESTION 8
I have a 22 V battery, 3 fixed resistors (3 ?, 4 ?, 10 ?), a variable resistor with a range of 5.0 ? to 6.0 ?, and a kid's
toy (with its own internal resistance of 4.2 ?) which requires (3.4 ± 0.1) A of current. [If there is too little current,
the toy can't run. If there is too much current, an important circuit in the toy will burn out.] Design and draw the
circuit which meets the current requirement and the following restrictions:
• The battery, all three fixed resistors, the variable resistor, and the kid's toy must all be used in the circuit. [That
is a total of 6 components.]
• Some current (a non-negligible amount) must flow through each component. (No sparking or bleeding of
current into the air, ...)
• Represent the toy in the circuit by a "T" in a circle, and the variable resistor by a "R" in a circle. Make sure you
explicitly write the resistance selected for "R".
