Design a voltage tripler circuit in MATLAB-Simulink for the following scenario. Show the
calculation of various parameters and discuss the function and working of each
MATLAB-Simulink component.
Scenario:
The voltage tripler circuit has capacitances ($C_1$, $C_2$ and $C_3$) all equal to 0.05 µF. The
supply transformer secondary voltage is 125 kV at a frequency of 150 Hz. First,
calculate the following numerically and then compare your numerical solutions with
simulation results:
1. Percentage ripple
2. Voltage regulation
Finally, report your FINDINGS. Note that your findings MUST be based on your
EXCLUSIVE observations after comparison. For your reference, these can possibly be,
not limited to, but the following.
- Variation(s) between numerical and simulation results with proper justification(s).
- Distinctive aspects reflecting either benefits or limitations/drawbacks of the circuit
with solid reasons.
- Incase of limitations/drawbacks, possible remedies or solutions should be
provided supported by proper justification(s).
