The diagrams below illustrate in experimental method which can be used to monsure the apeed of an air cifle pellint.
A limp of putty, of man 0.10 kg , is resting on the udge of a henoh of height \( 0-80 \mathrm{~m} \). The pellet, of mas \( 5-0 \times 10^{-6} \mathrm{hig} \), is fited int the lump of putty.
The putry, with the pellet ambedded in it, lands 0.20 m from the foot of the lieneh as shewn
(a) Show that the horiaontal velocity is the patty after the impact of the pellot is \( 0.5 \mathrm{~m} \mathrm{~s}^{-1} \).
(b) (i) Sonte the principle of conservation of momientum.
(ii) Using thia principle, calculate the velocity of the pellet just before it strikes the puty.
(c) Using only the upparans above, wugest one wiey of improving the misuraiy of this experiment.
