Newspaper: The Crisis in U.S.-China Relations
1) Give a one paragraph summary of your article (no more than 7 sentences).
The United States relationship with China touches on extremely wide range of issues from trade, safety,
and economic to the environment and human rights. These are important questions Congress has to
face when dealing with what sort of relationship the United States should have with them and how the
U.S. should respond to China's "rise." Chinas economy has reached second-largest in the world, right
behind the U.S. With economic success, China has engaged in an ambitious military drive. Military to
military ties between the two countries fragile but improving, the two countries are cooperating in
enhancing economic and trade routes.
2) Which sections/modules in the textbook does your article relate to? Explain the relation to the
course material.
3) Which economic model can be used to explain a concept presented within your article? Graph
the model and show how it may be affected by the information in your article.
