Free Response (15 pts each)
In the 2003 film Finding Nemo, there is a scene in which Marlon and Dory are in a sunken submarine, right at the edge of a naval minefield. One of these mines, which was probably left over from World War II, has a mass of 200kg (of which 80kg consisted of explosives). It is secured to the ocean floor by means of a very heavy steel plate and a chain. The mine has a diameter of 80cm and is spherical.
( Vol _(()sphere )=((4)/(3)*pi r^(3))
a. What is the tension in one of the chains holding the mine underwater?
b. If the chain breaks, how much of the mine will be visible above the water (if it doesn't explode along the way)?
