Jason is a 35-year-old Caucasian man from a remote area of Wyoming. Although he puts a lot of effort into his work as a builder, he has recently been battling strong anxiety attacks characterized by continual worry, restlessness, and difficulties concentrating. He's also been feeling quite depressed, exhausted, and uninterested in pursuits he usually finds enjoyable, like hiking and fishing. He is at a point that he occasionally thinks about how it would be better if he just didn’t wake up in the morning. In order to cope with these intense sentiments, Jason has turned to alcohol. Despite numerous failed attempts to cut back, he regularly consumes large amounts of it in the evenings. He has suffered detrimental effects in both his personal and professional lives as a result of his increased drinking. Jason is aware that he needs treatment, but he is afraid to seek professional help because of the stigma that surrounds mental health conditions and substance abuse disorders in his close-knit neighborhood.
