Design Project
Design the thermodynamic cycle of a steam turbine to achieve a power output of 1.5 MW with multiple turbines.
Prepare the project report in Microsoft Word with the following Chapters:-

1 INTRODUCTION discuss theoretical background and basic equations, formulas, diagrams
2 DETAILED DESIGN Determine the lower, the higher and the intermediate pressure values in the
cycle. Calculate the mass flow rate and other important parameters.
3 ALTERNATIVE Show calculations for different values of design parameters. Consider at
DESIGN least three alternatives based on different number of Turbines.
4 RESULTS Draw the T-s diagram for the various alternatives and list the important
parameters. Pick the most suitable design and mention the reason for your
choice.
5 CONCLUSION Compare the thermal efficiency of your design with the efficiency of a basic
steam turbine cycle. Write a summary of your design experience

1) This is NOT a group project. Each student must carry out the project individually.
2) Reports using the exact same flow rates, number of turbines and other parameters will be penalized for
plagiarism.
3) Reports copying sentences, paragraphs directly from the internet will be subject to marks deductions.
4) Report must be written by the student in his own words.
