The results of the DNAse hydrolysis test (5-11) visually shows that DNAase is an exoenzyme (i.e., a secreted enzyme) and not a cytoplasmic enzyme because of the location of the result, which is a clearing (clouding, darkening, or clearing?) of the blue reagent in the media. Because the enzyme is an exoenzyme, students should expect to see a positive result (under the inoculated spot or around the inoculated spot), which means that the enzyme and resulting effect is (inside or outside?) the cell.
