Impulse
Impulse = force x time
Impulse = F x ?t
(Units: kg m/s)
Note the units for momentum and Impulse are the same. This tells us that they
physically related.
Finally, when we relate impulse and momentum, we find that in fact the
Impulse = Change in Momentum
F?t = $mv_f - mv_i$
or
F?t = ?p
B. A 10 N force is applied to a 2.0 kg object for 5.0 s. What is the impulse?
?p = 10 x 5 = 50 kg m/s
C. If in problem 'B' the object started from rest, find its final velocity
