Essay/Case Questions
1. True Story of a Emma, a 16-year old:
When my family and I moved to a new town two years ago, I had a hard time finding a new
group of friends. I hung out with my neighbor, but she always pressured me into doing stuff I
really didn't want to do. I didn't really like this "friend" of mine, but I figured hanging out with
her was better than being alone.
One day I saw a flyer about tryouts for the girls' soccer team. I used to play soccer at my old
school, so I decided to try out. Instead of supporting me, my neighbor said it was lame and called
me a wanna-be, who wanted to just copy others and show- off.
I went to the tryouts anyway. I made it to the team, but best of all, I found a group of friends who
accept me just as I am. They never pressure me to do things I don't agree with, or expect me to
be anything but myself.
