A glass fibre/epoxy, fibre reinforced uniaxial composite is loaded along the axial direction of its
continuous fibres. Given the fibre volume fraction is 0.3, the strength of E-glass fibres is 2400 MPa and
the strength of epoxy resin is 75MPa, use either Equation (1) or Equation (2), to determine the lower
bound of the axial strength of the composite. Give your answer in MPa correct to 3 significant figures.
$\left(\bar{\sigma}_f\right)_{u,a} = f\left(\sigma_f\right)_r + (1 - f)\left(\sigma_f\right)_m$
Eq (1)
$\bar{\sigma}_{L,a} = \text{Greater of } \left[f\left(\sigma_f\right)_r, (1 - f)\left(\sigma_f\right)_m\right]$
Eq (2)
