Foramina of the skull
A foramen (singular) typically allows muscles, nerves, arteries, veins, or other structures to connect one part of the body with another.
The human skull has numerous foramina through which cranial nerves, arteries, veins, and other structures pass.
Note: These foramen will become more important in the nervous system model lab.
Label the foramina within the skull.

Foramen spinosum
Jugular foramen
Optic canal
1. Remove the cranium and shine a light through the different flat bones of the skull.
2. Observe how the temporal bone is more translucent than the frontal bone.
