Respond to this as a social worker, "I see micro and macro social work as interrelated because each informs the strengths of the other. Social work is all about changing people's lives, from individual support to system change. To make the change effectively the two need to work together because they are connected to each other to treat the problem from the root not just at the surface level. For example, some clients come in with a problem of housing and utilities this is at a micro level but to fully address the problem we have to look at a macro level whereby we have to find resources from organizations such as Neighbors Along the Line, Helping Hands and, helping them apply for Section 8. These organizations assist with rentals and utilities. A client in such a situation as an individual is in micro social work but as a social worker, you must engage with the macro environment to help the client get affordable housing."
