Discussion: Helping Harry Meet Sally
In Part 1 (Chapter 10) of Unit 6 you learned about Attraction and Relationships. Your friend Harry has a crush on Sally, but she barely knows he is alive. Both are PSYC majors here at MGA.
What advice could you give to Harry to make him appear more attractive to Sally, based on the principles of (a) proximity and (b) similarity in terms of liking and attraction? (4 points)
Sally goes to the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays, where she spends about 45 minutes on the treadmill. Based on Schacter's 2-factor theory and the findings from Aron and Dutton's Bridge Study, how might you advise Harry to use this to his advantage (without being a stalker...). Here I'm looking to see if you understand Schacter's 2-factor theory and can correctly apply it, along with the results of the bridge study, to help Harry become more appealing to Sally. You do not have to re-hash the theory or study details – it's the application that is important. (4 points)
