Question 19
6 pts
(6 pts) The Special K breakfast cereal has iron filings in it (next time you have some, grab a
magnet and you'll see!) but this iron is not as readily available for absorption as iron (II)
fumarate used in some vitamin pills. Iron (II) fumarate has the chemical formula C4H2FeO4.
This compound consists of Iron (II) ion (Fe$^{2+}$) and a fumarate anion (C4H2O4$^{2-}$).
Write conversion factors (PERs) to convert between grams of iron fumarate and moles of
iron fumarate. Also, write a conversion factor to convert between moles of iron (II) ions and
moles of the iron (II) fumarate compound.
Note - this question is about writing good PERS, you are not doing any actual math once you have
the PERS!
