1.)
At Build-A-Bigger-Bug you are assigned to find a suitable arthropod to do
biotechnology work on. Assume you have the tools for de-extinction for some of
these arthropods. You have three choices: giant millipede, meganeura, and the giant
isopod below.
The giant isopod is an example of deep sea gigantism. The deep sea isopod does not have
pressure affecting its metabolism. It lives in 50 degree F temperatures, and cant very too much
from it. It is kin to the common rollie-polie (pill bug).
The meganeura lasted for 50 million more years than the giant millipede. It experienced varying
degrees of change of percent oxygen from 35% to 20%. The plant eating giant millipede can
only thrive in 35% oxygen.
According to this information, which arthropod would be the scariest to build?
Which arthropod, is the most expensive and time consuming to build?
Which arthropod would be the easiest to work on via biotechnology?
Also, are abrupt changes in oxygen composition and temperature chemical changes, or physical
changes?
