The strategy of the scientists and social scientists is to promote the use of forms of advertising, marketing, entertainment, & propaganda to reframe social values. They want to influence humans around the world by framing less ecologically destructive ways of life in a positive way. That is, they want to influence humans so that they behave in ways that lead to less reproduction (smaller families, reduced human population, etc.), less consumption and wealth accumulation, and degrowth ecological economics as a replacement for perpetual growth global capitalism. These ecologically less destructive behaviors may result in less ecological overshoot.
Evaluate the above approach in terms of Kant's duty ethics & the Categorical Imperative. Would Kant think that such policy approaches ought to be universalized? Are such approaches motivated by the duty to respect humans as persons? Include the following attributes of the person--rational being, autonomy, intrinsic value & moral agency.
