Prisoners are being mistreated through out the Unites States and is quite common even though the public rarely sees the mistreatment. Some of the mistreatment includes having to be stripped down in front of other inmates before moving to other facilities, having to wear pink underwear as a humiliation tactic, and the worse having prison gang leaders allowed to sell and buy inmates as slaves for sex. This is just dome of the mistreatment. As well with mistreatment inmates are being assaulted by the guards. In Kentucky 3 federal correctional officers were indicted on charges of assaulting inmates and attempting to cover it up. They were said to have assaulted these inmates to where they caused bodily harm. A lot of these corruptive behaviors go unnoticed in the correctional facility due to it being common practice and the culture surrounding these facilities. Most people see inmates as people with little to know rights, but they are still human and deserve to be treated humanely. There needs to be an overhaul in the correction system that would take a lot of time and money. There needs to be better trained correctional officers and properly vetted employees at the correctional facilities. Even though all of the problems cannot be fixed over night, there can be a solution if the people in power wanted to fix the issue. The problem persist with leadership and their willingness to take the time and necessary steps to ultimately fix the issues. To instill ethical behavior amongst correctional staff there should be proper training which shows the consequences when guards and other staff break the law and violate inmates rights.
