Discussion: You come to me for a job, and I tell you that the average salary for my company is $100,000 per year. That sounds great to you. However, you are curious, so you check my company out. I only have 5 employees. Two work in the warehouse and make only $10,000/year each. A secretary that makes $12,000 per year and an office manager that makes $18,000/yr. The only other employee is the boss (me) and I make $45,000 each year.
Did I lie to you about the average salary? What would be a better way to describe the "average"? How much do you think you will make if hired?
